Policy conference 10 March 2026

You are invited to join the Canadian Health Policy Institute (CHPI) and 3Sixty Public Affairs for an important, in‑person forum exploring how medical and technological innovation can strengthen Canada’s health system, economy, and long‑term competitiveness.

The Innovation Legacy: Building a Healthier Future
Date: March 10, 2026
Time: 9:00AM – 1:00PM (registration opens at 8:00AM)
Location: St. James Cathedral, 106 King St E, Toronto, Ontario
Hospitality: Breakfast and lunch will be provided

Innovation in medicine and technology is transforming patient care and reducing system costs. CHPI’s recent analysis shows that provinces investing more in access to new medicines experience lower overall healthcare spending and better outcomes. In 2023, under‑investment in patented medicines generated $21.3 billion in avoidable healthcare costs—underscoring that innovation is a cost saver, not a cost driver.

This forum will convene policymakers, academics, clinicians, patient leaders, and industry experts to explore how Canada can better coordinate efforts to accelerate access to innovative therapies and ensure system sustainability.

Featured Programming Includes:

Keynote Address: The virtuous legacy from past access to pharmaceutical innovation in Canada, 1970 to 2022, Dr. Frank Lichtenberg, Columbia University; National Bureau of Economic Research

Panel 1: Innovation and access to pharmaceuticals in Canada: How cutting-edge therapies can reduce overall health expenditure and deliver better patient outcomes

Panel 2: U.S. tariffs and Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) program: Emerging threats to Canada’s competitivenessNetworking breakfast and lunch
